DOOM is actually where I started as a game dev.
All the way back in High school, I was designing and building levels for iD Software's Classic FPS game.
If not for DOOM, I probably wouldn't be pursuing Game Development. Mapping made me realise how much I really wanted to be a developer. I spent countless hours reading about iD Software's humble beginnings, about "The Tale of Two Johns", about the development of DOOM, Quake, Heretic and Hexen, and all kinds of other studios from the era.
I owe a lot of my passion for games and game development almost entirely to DOOM along with the countless other studios making games, computers and consoles since the 1970s.
